Hi, I have two kids 9 and 12 who are interested in swimming . My 12 yr old has some experience in non competitive swim team and she is a fairly good swimmer. She is not particularly interested in competing but would like to keep up with swimming , improve her timing, build strength and stamina.Does anybody have any suggestions about a suitable swim program. We live in Westlake. Don't really want to drive too far. Thanks

Probably the closest program is in Rollingwood. One program is "Weiss and Weiss."

Another close program is West Austin Aquatics on Bee Caves Rd. They have a wide variety of swimming programs for swimmers of all ages and levels.

These pools are outdoors and heated year round.

The downtown Y has an indoor pool and surely teaches lessons.

A nearly complete list of year round swim teams can be found at www.stswim.org.

Nitro is a fine program, but their current pool is a billion miles from Westlake.

Sometime in 2011, Nitro should open their 2nd pool on SH71 near the entrance of Falconhead West.

I would recommend West Austin Athletic (wfly.com)

They have both a highly competitive and a recreational year-round swim programs. Great people there. The programs accommodate swimmers of all abilities.

Depending on where you live in Westlake, it shouldn't be too far. WAAC is at the corner of Bee Cave Rd & Patterson Drive.
