Very accurate post! Mercedes damn near killed their E class in 2003 when they added air suspension, keyless go (miserable failure), complicated/problematic Harmon Kardon radios (vs. the Becker components from the previous 40 years)etc.
Yet there are tons of 80's/90's Benzes still chugging around with hundreds of thousands of miles.
Air ride is the devil. Air suspension was the reason I gave up on American cars. I'm sure when it breaks in a German car it will be double. I have a 2005 Toyota 4Runner wih 130,000 miles & air suspension & so far no issues. But when it goes or on it's way out i'm trading it in.
Wanna here somthing disturbingly scary. I own a Freightliner truck with airride. Never had one issue with the airbags, & am still using the orginal OEM airbags. If they break they are apx $150 for the part & one hour labor to install compared to $1200-$2000 some of the cars running around out there with an air suspension.
Anyone here previously owned/or own an Audi? What was your experience with it? Experience with vehicle years between 2009-2012.
I'm pretty sure they've changed, but in 2001 TTs reliability problems started around 30,000 miles. Problems with window regulators, AC, radiator, I was paying $1600 a year in repairs. In general, German cars become very expensive to maintain after warranty.

My buddy bought a 2001 TT 2 1/2 years ago.it had 90,000 miles on it. I made him do the timing belt & he had no issues until a few weeks ago he decided to trade it in for a new VW.
I had looked at a TT when I was looking for a 2nd car. The bank I used told me they won't finance any TT's due to the poor reliability issues.

VW owns Audi so both brands share many parts. After driving both brands I can tell you that tactile feel is the same. Road manners are similar in certain models like the A series & the VW's across the board.
As far as reliabiltly goes. Since Audi & VW used the same engines they both suffured from the same turbo issues. If not a turbo engine that the reliabilty goes up 10 fold. These are very well made cars. VW is a little more reasonable with there pricing. However the new CC is way over priced, Audi is expensive no matter what.
We own a 2007 Audi A3 hatchback.
Have had zero problems.
It has 33000 miles on it. We live in the city and work mostly from home.
Have a German car shop 2 blocks from our house.
Very happy.
Hoping to keep it for 10 more years and then buy an electric car.
Anybody calling an Audi an expensive VW needs to also recognize an Audi is a cheap Bentley.
