Why does it suck? That slogan makes the county seem like such a DB. I hated that the entire time I lived there.

Unless your real problem is with the removal of the water towers for the purposes of water. Which doesn't compute....

They should have said, "Gwinnett is GROOVY!!!!!!"

That would have been awesome...

It's just sad to see this landmark disappear after such a long time.
The towers are not that remarkable. Heck the ones they built where I live in alpharetta would dwarf these yet everyone knows about them.

they should erect a big chinese gate above I-85. But seriously, I heard they were getting complaints because it's written in English.

By far, the funniest thing I have seen written on this forum!

Understandably some people will mourn differently and make jokes to help cope with the loss of this landmark.

DB? I'm not familiar with that abbreviation...please explain.

Look, you're entitled to your opinion and I get that you're glad it's going. I happen to feel opposite. I lived in Gwinnett County between 1987 - 92 and my sister and her family bought their first house in Norcross in 1983, back when the area around Beaver Ruin Rd was the sticks, so I have a lot of history in Gwinnett and watched it grow from practically nothing.

I always liked seeing the water towers as I drove home on I-85....it signaled that I was home. It signaled that the county was proud of its accomplishments and hopeful about its future. Maybe that's silly, and maybe they've outlived their usefulness, but why on earth would anyone "hate" them?

I "hate" them (admittedly a strong word but used here in the very commonly used soft sense) because I don't like things that prominent that appear to boast and paint an entire area with one denominator. You found it signaled pride and hopefulness. The first I don't like, the second doesn't bother me. But I never found it hopeful...just prideful.

You lived in Gwinnett about 10 years before me but only for about a year and a half longer than I did. My old neighbor had lived there since the early 80s and SHE thought it was better when it was still rather rural. So, for HER, Gwinnett USED to be great and was no longer. I enjoyed my stay there, for the most part, and only realized that Gwinnett was actually not great, but simply okay, when I moved to my current location.

My contrasting experiences of Gwinnett versus current home serve to solidify, for me, that a giant prideful boasting sign like that doesn't tell anyone anything really.

It'd be better if they'd painted a big mural that advertised all the major things Gwinnett had to offer. Something not the Mall...perhaps the wonderful parks.

Don't get bent out of shape. I don't like those stupid "30307: It's not just a zipcode, it's a lifestyle" bumper stickers that people in my hood slap on their cars. I "hate" those, as well.
