Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I are both moving down to Atlanta from out of state for school and work in early June. We came into town last week and visited some complexes, specifically the Gramercy at Buckhead (located on Roswell Rd) and we're also considering Westminster at Buckhead (located at 2900 Pharr Court. Does anyone have any input on these? My number one priority is safety, however we'd like to be a part of the city that is "walkable." How does this compare to Midtown? We're looking for a 2 bedroom/2 bath between (no more than $1250).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I don't know Buckhead real well but I find that it is not walkable whereas Midtown is very walkable. A 2/2 may be hard to find for $1250 but it is possible I think if you don't require a full service building with all the amentities.

I would have to agree with Noah. Midtown is more walkable vs. Buckhead. You will even be able to find a 2/2 for 1200 in Midtown then you would in Buckhead. Hope this helps a bit.

Virginia Highlands is walkable also and appropriate for your age. Little Five Points is walkable and cheaper, but safety is iffy.

Not that Pharr Road is super-safe. It's maybe in the most traditionally affluent area of "in town" Atlanta but when the Buckhead nightlife area sprang up, it attracted some crime. Same with Lenox Square area.

But Pharr Road would be fine, you just have to realize that most of Atlanta is car country. If you wanted to walk just for exercise, there's a really pretty area of expensive homes just to the west, and there are places you can walk to from there. But towards Peachtree it's very high density high traffic, whereas away from Peachtree is very suburban/residential. It's a transition zone.

Midtown and Va. Highlands are a bit more "alternative", whereas Buckhead is more preppy/yuppie.
