We moved to this area (zip code 30318) without considering the school systems. Now it is time for our kid to go to pre-k. But I heard that there is no good public schools in this area and it is very difficult to get in some private schools (even I decide to spent these money on the private school). Please advise how we should do if you are living in the same area. Should I move or...

By the way, this area is close to Smyrna but inside the I-285.

Thanks

30318 should all be in Atlanta. It's northern boundary appears to be approximately Chattahoochee River/Peachtree Creek. It goes as far south as I-20 in places.

That zip code is serviced by various schools within the Atlanta Public Schools district. These schools run the gamut when it comes to quality.

My suggestion to you is to find out what school services your area, and then go and physically visit the school and speak with the principal as well as the Pre-K teachers. From there, determine if you would feel comfortable with your child attending the school.

This resource from Atlanta Public Schools should help you in finding what school services your neighborhood: http://aps-schoolmap.apsk12.org/

Another great resource is the Georgia Office of Student Achievement 05-06 School Report Card site. This site will allow you to see your neighborhood school's test scores, as well as the test scores of every public school in Georgia. http://reportcard2006.gaosa.org/

Finally, check out www.greatschools.net to see how other parents feel about your neighborhood school.

I hope this information helps.

Default S. Cobb Road

Hi, all. Thanks for your all replies. I would like to give u more bkground info. We are living close to the river and north to the I-20 and South to the S. Cobb Road (I-285 Exit 15). I checked the information of my close public schools, the average scores for their science and other courses are less than 50. Thanks again.
