Well, Greg, you swim in the ocean, don't you? It's salt water, and fish pee in it all the time

The saltwater systems generate chlorine by using salt. You are still using chlorine.

Thanks.
I don't think urine has anything in it that we cannot live with, does it?

if 20 people wee in my salt pool or my chlorine one, I think it is the same difference. Both would need more attention than usual.

Anyway, I am convinced that salt pools are the best and also the cheapest to maintain. They were also those who were the cleanest when we visited some houses having a salt water pool, and they looked in a greater state too.

if we don't find one like that, we will change the system probably. Salt keeps germs away in fact. it kills them instantly, no?

It's still chlorine generated from salt. As far as cheaper to maintain, find out what the repair cost is on the salt system when you have to replace the cell. You can buy a lot of chlorine for $600!

The filtration system has alot to do with a clean pool,as well as how long the filter system is running. Don't think that because you have a saltwater system your pool is going to be carefree

no no I don't think it is care free, a pity it's not though
I also don't think anything is eternal

if I read the link given previously on this thread, well, it does not seem to be much difference with both systems. it seems that overall the salt just makes the water smoother.

We'll see what we get, and we'll apply a system that is more modern or makes it almost care free
I'll see when it is time to buy the change

Yeah, well - I don't swim in the ocean. There are things bigger than me in the ocean, so I don't go there.

But now at least I understand the saltwater stuff. Thought saltwater or not, I still say you'll lose $$ on the resell of your house with a pool.

I don't know why you are believing that.

All the houses we visit (almost all) had a pool, and I did not see anything showing that they were loosing some money on their property because they had a pool. In fact we want a property with a pool, so it should be in their advantage, no?

In the Atlanta area you are more the exception than the rule. I know realtors, and there are even realtors who post in this room who will tell you that generally speaking, pools are not considered profit makers on a home during resell.

Ok so I can make it as if it were a disadvantage rather than something highly desired
