Hi-
Anyone recommend their credit union? I'm pleased with my Suntrust account but am looking for better interest.
Thanks.

I love Wings Financial Credit Union (formerly the Northwest Airlines employee credit union), but they only have four deposit locations and one real branch in the Atlanta metro, and you have to meet their membership requirements.

That's why I tend to use Suntrust now. I like Suntrust, but still...

I have a car loan with Georgia's Own Credit Union. They are formerly GA Telco (for telecommunication workers but they have opened it up to residents of certain counties). They gave me a great rate for a car loan and discounted it even more since I purchased a hybrid.

Georgia's Own I'm at least qualified for. Can anyone tell me more about their experiences with them? They look good...

They have given me great customer service so far. Not to mention a much better interest rate than the competitors. I have since had my sister, my neighbor and a friend refinance their car loans with them too.

If the OP is looking for a better rate of interest on deposits rather than loans, I'm always surprised that most people don't buy Treasury Bills. You do it all online, it's easy, the rates are good, and you even get an income tax break on the interest. TreasuryDirect

Charles Schwab is offering free checking @ 3% interest. Not really sure what all is involved...

But I was with Lockheed and never seemed to have a problem.

In times like this I would say liquidity is important. I am not sure I trust the government enough. Right now I am still liking municipal money market funds. The rates are still fairly high plus they are federal tax free (sadly Georgia does not have its own fund).

Schwab is a great deal if you want a checking account and don't care about having physical branches. Unlimited ATM rebates is sweet.
