I was offered a job in Locust Grove in Henry County and will be living in mid-town Atlanta. When I left there today at 3:30 pm, I hit a ton of traffic on 155 (20 minutes to go 3 miles) and I-75 North was bumper to bumper. It took me an hour and forty minutes to travel the 40 miles. Didn't see any accidents or construction.

Is this normal or did I just have a bad luck day? Would hate to take the job and quit because of the cummute.

yep that sounds pretty normal... I-75 n/s in that area can be a nightmare. (use to live off of 155 exit 216) just wait until next week for spring break when everyone goes to Florida and then comes home....

It is often bad for no reason. I live in the Lake Spivey area (usually use exit #228) and I always allow at least 30 minutes to get to Locust Grove during traffic hours (M-Th morning and evening and all day F). Getting through McDonough is the big problem. Don't know your work hours, but Saturdays are bad, too, because of shopping in McDonough.

I'd expect an hour, but wouldn't be surprised at an hour and a half, assuming you just take the interstate. We use GA Navigator religiously here in the 'burbs. The back ways may not always be that much faster, but at least you are moving.

(And, yes, spring break can be nightmare. Last year was the worst I had ever seen. It was pretty much bumper to bumper from Thursday afternoon until Sunday.)
