I am a new resident of the City of Alpharetta, however we have lived in Fulton County for the past 14 years. At my closing for the purchase of our home in the City of Alpharetta, there was no mention of Property Tax for the City of Alpharetta, and I received no Tax bill in year 1 (2006) from the City of Alpharetta. My mortgage escrow payment was set up to only account for Fulton County Taxes. I was surprised when I received a tax bill from the City of Alpharetta in addition to the Tax bill from Fulton County in 2007. I guess I was under the impression that the City of Alpharetta would take their taxes from the amount paid to Fulton County? How is it suppose to work?

There is no arrangement between Fulton County and City of Alpharetta. Our Alpharetta subdivision moved from Fulton County to City of Alpharetta. There was one year of partial payments to both but now just to City of Alpharetta. If you call City of Alpharetta they can tell you payment amount. They also take credit cards over the phone.

Yes...I also live in the City of Alpharetta and I do not escrow so got both bills last year...with the homeowners exemption...was not too bad though.
