Those polls are not surprising. You have all of the democrat vote coalescing behind the one democrat in the race but in not one poll is Ossof above 50 percent but the fact he has been able to crack into the 40s makes the race competitive. Meanwhile the GOP vote is fractured among 5 Republicans.. when you add up all the votes for Republicans in the race it tops 50 percent. Ossof will most definitely make a runoff... likely against Handel or Gray.. but in the runoff the GOP vote will coalesce around the remaining republican so unless Ossof can convince voters of other republica candidates to back him in the runoff, he just doesnt have a chance. But for any democrat to get 45% of the vote in that district is quite astonishing nonetheless

There are a number of Democrats in the race, just like there are a number of Republicans.

We've talked a lot about Ossoff's credentials and experience, but what do we know about Karen Handel's professional background? We know (infamously, thanks to David Perdue), that she didn't graduate from college. Her old Senate campaign website said she, "left an abusive home when she was 17, finishing high school and entering the workforce."

That sounds like a terrific story, but her new campaign website doesn't mention it. The only line on her private sector career is: "Karen’s private sector experience includes executive management positions with CIBA Vision and the accounting firm of KPMG." Again, this sounds like an inspiring story -- I'm not sure about CIBA Vision, but achieving an executive management position at a company like KPMG without a college degree is impressive stuff. Wikipedia claims she also worked for Hallmark Cards. Why don't we hear more about her career as a private-sector executive?

What is electing Jon Ossoff going to do about gentrification and cultural colonization? What is electing him going to do about the fact that we're drone bombing innocent people worldwide? What is he going to do to de-militarize the police force? What is he going to do to stop the mass incarceration of black people in this country? How about for-profit prisons? What's Jon Ossoff going to do to fix a system that allows corporations and special interest groups with lots of cash from buying elections?

What if I'm not for gun control because it's going to be used as another way for the police to target minorities? What if I'm not for Obamacare because it guaranteed huge handouts to the medical industry, but my father is basically dying and still can't get health insurance?

If you're comfortable with the status quo and all of these problems are just abstractions to you, things that you don't have to deal with yourself, I can understand why you might have hope in a guy like Jon Ossoff. But for people who have voted in Dems faithfully time after time, only to find themselves ignored or screwed over, it's abundantly clear that he isn't going to change anything.

I know republicans who are voting today who will stay home or vote for Ossoff in June if it is either Handel or Gray.

Especially Handel.

Yeah and some polls showed Hillary would win Georgia. Didn't happen and neither will the very Red 6th district go blue in this election. Yeah some people will stay home.. just like the Bernie socialists are saying they wont vote for Ossof because he is not far enough to the left for them. But I have a hard time believing that a district that just recently elected Tom Price has now all of a sudden become a bastion of liberalism

His opponents have promised to make things worse on all of those fronts.

Not voting = standing by and making it easier for things to get worse.

Would you prefer nothing to change, or a 100% guarantee of accelerated changes for the worse? Or do you not care?

Please people, do not forget about our transportation issue. Republicans typically do not vote for mass transit and if ou are fo mass transit, then we will need to stand behind Job Ossoff as he is the only one that stated outright that he would support mass transit (Jon Ossoff: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com).

Also, why are the conservatives calling him a spoiled brat when many of them can be classified as one too, especially those living in the 6th district?
