I'm moving into a studio in Lincoln Park, Chicago and I'm only looking at $1,075/month. Granted, it's only about 400-425 square feet but Lincoln Park is quite a bit wealthier than Midtown. The "bang for your buck" in Chicago is insane, presumably because it's not on East/West coast, it has a history of political corruption, and people are spooked by the high violent crime, the vast majority of which is in the impoverished ghettos.

Midtown, especially this location, is nowadays more of our equivalent of the Loop, right on the Chicago River and steps from Grant Park, than it is our equivalent of Lincoln Park.

I mean this is a brand new, nice glass tower, basically right on top of the Midtown MARTA station which takes you directly to the airport, a block from Peachtree St, and just a couple blocks from Piedmont Park. And it's going to be larger in square footage than anything in a bigger northern city like Chicago, even for a studio.

Washer/dryer included, stainless steel everything, hard floors (all standard features in recently built apartments), city views (probably really good ones in some units), and I'm sure you get your own parking spot in the garage.

Not saying your new place is not awesome or an awesome deal, or that this Post is a good deal (it does seem high for a studio), but surely there's some asterisks there if you're comparing the 2.

That's a good point, mang. Sounds pretty awesome. Definitely can't wait to visit Atlanta sometime within the next year. One of the few major American cities I've never been to.

The 4.1-acre lot bounded by Spring, West Peachtree, and Third streets, and Ponce de Leon Avenue may hit the market this fall. The site will be marketed as “Ponce & 3rd.”

How much do you want to bet the developer will add another 1,000+ space parking deck to the parcel?

Probably but can it at least be wrapped with some retail on the ground floor?

Atlanta’s Next Big Food Hall Is Destined for Midtown

"Seeing the buzz generated by Krog Street and Ponce City markets, the developers charged with refreshing Midtown’s Colony Square have decided something similar should be part of their grand plans. Main & Main, what is being described as an “experience-driven food hall,” will break ground later this year, and its first phase is scheduled to open at some point in 2018..."

Lennar Multifamily Communities is breaking ground on Vireo, a 310-unit high-rise apartment tower at 195 13th St. Vireo, which has been in the works for more than a year, is slated to span 26 stories
Quote:
Earlier this year, Lennar secured a 10-year tax abatement incentive from the Development Authority of Fulton County, according to the ABC. That is helping offset Vireo's $105M development price tag. In turn, Lennar is offering 32 of its units as workforce housing.
