I find the use of the word "worst" to be too qualitative when discussing something as complex as state taxes. Ninth highest perhaps? But worst?

Well if everyone only payed property and sales taxes it'd be grossly aggressive against the poor. Unless millionaire s are going to start consuming about 100 times what the average individual does.

I agree - the way they either ranked them or reported on them is just...awkward, at best.

What they mean is Georgia has the 9th highest state income tax rates in the country.

My issue is - what the heck is this money paying for? I get what my property taxes pay for, but as a state we slash education and unemployment and healthcare so what are we paying for?

I have seen several of these reports lately now that 2014 is history.

When it comes to total taxes - Georgia ranks in the middle of the pack

I'm not so sure I would mind if Georgia was in the tier of top-most taxing states, provided that it was also in the tier of best fiscally managed states.
