I haven't heard anything about this area in a while. Is it still plagued by blight? Is it about the same? Gentrifying? Anything?

Still a lot of blight, but some investment nearby. Some apartments and SFR in the area are sometimes said to be in West Midtown but they are only a few blocks away from the heart of Bankhead.

No where to proud to say you came from. I fell asleep in the passenger seat one time in Lovejoy and woke up on some major street in Bankhead. I had to ask "Are we in Detroit or did I sleep thru a nuclear war?"

Nowhere near as bad as it was since all of the projects are gone. Rode down Hollowell not too long ago and saw white people walking dogs...was rather surprised. There was a time where you wouldn't catch me dead over there but it's definitely not as bad now. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying it's Buckhead now, but killing off all of those projects and low income apartments did wonders for that area.
