my daughter 21 yoa age would like to leave her car for 5-6 days at the north springs marta station, ride the train to the civic center station, and catch megabus for a trip to fla. bus leaves at 730 am. is security at the parking lot good for that length of time? any idea how much time she should allow for the train ride to the civic center? she is security conscious. wonders if she will feel safe riding marta (her first time) and standing in a parking lot downtown waiting on her bus at that time of the morning. any comments/advice would be appreciated.

Security there is pretty good. I usually see a police car there patrolling, and I leave my car there overnight quite often. For riding the train, the Civic Center station will take her about 25 minutes to get to. Marta is very safe these days, and she'll be fine at the parking lot. Downtown isn't as bad as people think. It used to be rough but it's getting better and better every year.

The parking lots is generally safe, plan on 45min from NorthSprings to Civic Center (20 min on train) 10 min or so waiting for next one, 5 min from parking deck, Purchase ticket etc.

At that hour of the morning she should be able to get a space on the 1st level near the Stairs/Elevators.

From what I've heard there are other waiting for mega-bus most of the time, so being alone @ Civic Center should not be a issue.

Long term parking is safe and guarded at North Springs

Regarding Megabus, she needs to be in line 20-40 minutes before departure depending on if she wants to have her choice of seats on the bus or not. I'm sure she wants to choose her own seat so she needs to be at the beginning of the line which means she needs to be in line by 7am.

It will be safe. It will be plenty of people in that area.

Security is fine -- her car should be perfectly safe. It's by a quiet neighborhood, and is patrolled regularly by both MARTA and Sandy Springs police.

The first train on the weekends is at 6:01 am, and every 20 minute after that -- I would imagine that she should probably aim on getting to the station and parking around 6-ish, and catching the 6:21 train -- that will put her at Civic Center just before 7, assuming no issues. If it's a weekday, there's a 5:51 am and a 6:09 train that she should probably aim for.

Megabus has a security guard on duty outside the Civic Center Station. I would suggest purchasing a BreezeCard with 2-trips (total of $6 for card,$1, and trips,$5) beforehand.
