I heard a news that parking at Lindberg marta station begins to charge from next week. The parking is not free anymore.
I hope this is a rumor.
Can someone tell?

I haven't heard that, but there is an interesting change on their website

(MARTA > Using MARTA > Parking Information)

Next to Lindbergh station is states "Parking located behind MARTA Headquarters (off Sidney Marcus). Parking Ticket must be validated inside the station after your trip."

I thought the decks had already been charging parking at night.

The decks off Sidney Marcus have been for years, but the Garson Deck has not. That must be the one that they are referring to?

Daily parking is still free in either deck. The only difference is that now you have to validate your ticket to get the free rate. Ticket validators are located inside the MARTA station; since parking is supposed to be free for MARTA patrons, if you're riding, you should be fine.

Details for MARTA system parking are here: MARTA > Using MARTA > Parking Information.
Details for Lindbergh Center Station parking validation are here (PDF): http://www.itsmarta.com/uploadedFile...yer%202010.pdf

I just did this last week. After you exit the train and head upstairs, the parking validation machine will be on your right, right before the fare gates.

Out of curiosity.... From using it can you tell the reason for this?

Is it a parking automation issue? Keeping non-Marta patrons from the area from parking there issue? etc..?

The parking is both for Lindbergh City Center patrons and Marta. Because Marta offers free parking, you have to get the ticket validated. Lindbergh City Center customers are supposed to pay for parking there though both times I drove (90% of the time I walk) they ended up not charging me.

This makes sense. With this change, the parking situation at Lindbergh (for patrons of stores, anyway) is now pretty much the same as it is at the 5th Street/Tech Square area. You can pay to park in either an adjacent deck or on street-side spaces.

I meet my wife after work for dinner here at Lindbergh once a week and usually find a side street spot easily. It'll be interesting to see if those spots will be more in demand now.
