Hello!! We are moving right after Christmas to Alpharetta. We are excited the move is almost here and any information or positive comments about the area in terms of recreation etc.. would be appreciated. We have spent a lot of time researching the area, finding school districts and neighborhoods acceptable for our two children but one question remains. Is there anywhere to mountain/trail bike around the area??

Big Creek Trailway.
Find it on the web site mentioned above.
There are several access points to the trail- and it gets alot of use.
Have fun!

When you get settled, drop by Roswell Bicycles on Houze Way--just west of Hwy 9(Alpharetta Hwy)[actually in Roswell]. They have been there since the late 80s and know the area very well, road and trail. Tell Todd that 'coach Rick' sent you! Welcome to the area!

While it is not a mountain biking trail per se (and it is across town from Alpharetta), the Silver Comet trail is a great road bike trail that runs along an old rail line from metro Atlanta to the Alabama border. A very pretty ride.

The Silver Comet Trail
Another one of the many reasons why northern Mableton is such a nice place to live. And southern Smyrna and northern Powder Springs, of course.

(The Silver Comet Trail parallels the E/W Connector on the northern border of Mableton before diving down into Mableton itself to cross Floyd Road.)
