This is a skyline changer. The skyline view from Piedmont Park I imagine will be significantly changed with this tower since I'll assume this is around 520-550 feet or so. Midtown is getting on fire again. Looks they are also discussing the development at 5th and Peachtree at this meeting. Midtown is going to become a monster soon.

Looks like this is proposed for the narrow vacant lot next to Opera and just south of 14th where the Mandarin was supposed to go? I still regret that project never happened. The schematics were gorgeous!

looks nice— i really hope the home there will be relocated instead of demolished. there really isn't much place for a single family home on peachtree anymore, but i don't want to see it gone forever.

All three projects listed in the original link are interesting. Beside the proposed tower, one other is for the former front yard of the old First Baptist location & the other project would do something with the failed work-in-progress mess left unfinished at 5th & Piedmont that is an eyesore.
Yes, 1138 Peachtree would be in that narrow lot next to Opera.
If that is indeed what goes there, something will need to be done in the way of late evening noise abatement in that area from the club district next door at Opera & from the west behind it off of Crescent Avenue. The noise is a serious problem overnight & having something of this size & with this number of units there will finally bring the issue to a head!

I'd be shocked if they didn't use essentially soundproof windows and materials building this.

This needs to happen. Let the growth of Midtown continue.

Opera is located in the rear auditorium attached to the back of the old Wimbish Mansion that once housed the Atlanta Women's Club. It is on the National Historic Register & I don't believe that it will be going anywhere, as in being demolished.
In the original link there were 3 projects listed. One was for the redevelopment of the mess at the ne corner of 5th & Piedmont, which originally was a single family home decades ago (and referred to that way in the link) so there isn't a single family home in danger of removal from Peachtree the way I understand it.
