i didn't see that in the brochure— it looks like both the north and south sides of the building will be blank, and without moving the wimbish house, it wouldn't be possible to put another street in there. although i think it would be nice, it has never been connected through there, thus it wouldn't be a "re-establishment" of the street grid, it would be a new connection. here's a map of midtown in 1895:

i do see in the brochure that it shows a map of 13th being connected, but i assume it's just a mistake. a reconnected 13th street wouldn't leave any room for the building itself.

you know what, i might be wrong. the north side of the building does show a retail frontage on the ground floor. i'm just having a hard time picturing how that's going to connect through there.

Have to correct you there... several 40+ story buildings were completed recently, i.e. the Atlantic, the condos in Buckhead, and much of the Midtown Mile. This is no renaissance, just a continuiation of what was already happening before the recession. I guess it's easy to get excited after a few years of nothing, but what's happening now pales in comparison to the late 00's when it seemed the skyline had more cranes than buildings.

This is a very narrow lot. Its not possible to connect 13th street and still build this tower on that site.

Also, I think its a bit premature to say that this tower is coming to Midtown. As of now, its just a proposal. And as much as I would love to see this get built (NOW!), this developer has been trying to develop this lot for several years with great looking buildings. Quite frankly, I would have a lot more confidence in this building happening if it were another developer.

That's why I put a question mark in the title. The fact that they are going to the Midtown development meeting tells me they have a lot of interest in this site. We will see. We need a skyline changing building. It would be nice to see another 500+ feet building going up.

Does the project get the go ahead after Tuesday meeting?
There are 3 skyscrapers that are over 500 ft tall that are less than 10 years old

It doesn't take up a lot of land either like Margarett Mitchell house.

It'll become a gem in a sea of monolithic skyscrapers and highrises that exist in that area and will exist in the future. An ode to what Midtown used to be 40-50 years ago and the progress that has shaped Midtown today.

This. It should not be re-located.
