Hello! Husband and I have been in Atlanta for 2 months now and are enjoying it so far. We're living in Midtown, right near Piedmont Park, but may need to move due to the noise from all of the festivals in the park (husband works overnights). We're trying to find something quiet (normal street noise is ok) in Midtown ViHi, but are not having very good luck. We're considering looking in the burbs, even though we're more city people.
Can anyone weigh in on what it's like to like in Marietta/ East Cobb? We're young professionals with no kids.

A house. We figure if we're moving outside of the city we might as well get a bit more space and yard!

Have you considered Smyrna/Vinings - what is your housing budget?

My wife and I are in our late 20's and we moved to East Cobb in 2011 and we like it. Working in Kennesaw it would definitely make sense for you. Vinings has the most going on but houses there are limited and very expensive. Really anywhere in East Cobb will be reasonably close to either Vinings or downtown Roswell and will give you plenty to do.

Considering your information--
*more "city people"
*desire for a bit more space and yard
*young professional with no kids
*work in Kennesaw
*work in Atlanta off-hours

...I recommend the following areas:

1. Smyrna
2. City of Marietta
3. "Inner" East Cobb (in the Wheeler High or Sprayberry High Districts)
4. North Mableton
5. East Mableton

I hope this helps some. Good Luck.

Personally I would knock off Mableton if I was searching but the other 3 are all good suggestions but I would also flop 2 and 3 in preference(and depending on how soon they want kids I might move 3 up to 1).
