Has anyone done this locally? I found places in Gwinnett, Gainesville, Cumming, etc. Seems to all be 410 a gallon. I was all set to do this tomorrow morning, but someone discouraged me, saying it takes hours to pick all the berries and that they can be hard to reach since the most accessible ones have already been picked. She also talked about all the insects biting. I of course was prepared for the sun/heat. So now I'm thinking about not going.

Is this just one of those things that sounds romantic to do, but is more trouble than its worth?

Guess it depends if you enjoy that sort of thing but I do. The farm I like is Home in Winder Ga. Its a retired couple who decided to run this small blueberry farm, not big or commercialized but a nice place and good berries.

I have picked at all the locations in this thread. You do it because you like the outdoors, the taste of fresh hopefully sweet berries, not to save money or time. The blueberries vary in taste due to type of bush, weather, sun shine, time of year, etc. and could be picked out due to popularity so call first and plan to hit a couple places while out. BB bushes are easy to grow and don't take much maintenance so if you have a sunny location plant a few varieties and in a few years you will be picking (may have to net the plants).

Thanks! We ended up at DJ's, a small place in Lawrenceville, right by us. It was a lot of fun. Well worth the $10 and 1 hour it took for the two of us to fill the gallon bucket.
