I am moving from NYC to Atlanta in a couple months. Yikes!. I have an infant and a toddler and as such I need to be in a nice, safe, family friendly, good elementary/school district. I will be working in Forest Park and am accustomed to 30 min. commutes (which drives me crazy so I know I would freak if I have to do 1.5 hrs.)
Planning to rent for ~3mths to get a feel for the areas close to my job...any recommendations that meet the above criteria is greatly appreciated. Budget is 200-350K

try south fulton, fayette, or coweta. All are close to Atlanta and are up and coming

Try Henry County...it's close to Forest Park. You can get from Stockbridge to Forest Park in a matter of minutes avoiding highway traffic. There are some good schools in Henry County...shopping is convenient...but only one big mall...close to 75...quiet...family friendly.

Great. I love the "avoiding highway traffic" portion.

Fayette or Henry are the good places in the southland. Avoid Clayton like the flu!

Fayetteville is a city in Fayette County. Peachtree City is also in Fayette.

Everytime I see a post like this...someone from another state looking south of the city for a place that is "nice, safe, family friendly, good elem school district," I ALWAYS think Peachtree City.
