Usually, the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) goes up if you have more than one child at the school because they expect you to make more of a sacrifice so that it's not like you end up paying zero for the second kid. You should ask the school directly though because they all have different policies.

anyone knows if Walton will redistrict?

Wheeler to the east is building bigger, Walton is maxed out and largest high school i think, and Pope/lassiter is shrinking in enrollement.

i was thinking about getting a house near the old canton line(wheeler) or sewell mill rd line(pope)...but if they redistrict, my home value will drop like 20%.

It could happen. Cobb County Schools continuously posts under/over capacity maps on its website.

I think this is their way (and smart) of getting "it" out there (no surprises) about school population needs, trends, etc.

And--

Wheeler and Pope are great schools.

But the rule generally is, if you are dead-set on being in a certain school district, you need to be as close to the school as possible--preferably a neighborhood directly adjacent.

You cannot complain about a future redistricting if you purchased a home near the "edge" in the first place.

i agree, but the weird thing is, Walton School lies right on its own north border.

i would think a new high school (lower roswell area) should be planned...but then again, cobb county is broke.

wheeler and pope are good schools, i agree. Its my HOME VALUE that im concerned with.

Yes, it is. And that's why immediately adjacent is very important.

Blakeford, Hunter's Bend, Johnson's Landing, Bishop's Green, etc...all these neighborhoods that are close to Walton, attend Pope.

But then again, many neighborhoods close to Pope, attend Lassiter.

We have to remember, East Cobb is jammed pack and all of these high schools are fairly close to one another. So--there will never be perfect "radius circle" school districts. Not possible.

There won't be a new high school built in East Cobb ever again (IMO). They will now just shift around as needed.

Good Luck with everything!
