It's incredible how much the southeast side
of the city has changed over the past decade !

Assuming the northeast side is the most
established, how would you rank the 3
remaining quadrants in terms of potential,
and why ?

1. southwest (including pittsburgh, capitol view, etc.)
2. northwest
3. southeast

i see the southeast as having the least potential in the short term (next 30 years). in the long term, who knows? the thing is that the southeast side of atlanta is by far the least densely populated quadrant, when you drive south on moreland by the starlight, for example, it's like you're out in the country. so i guess in a way, it has the *most* potential in the long term, but right now it just seems so rural, i don't see a lot happening there anytime soon. i think it would be a great area to keep the horses for the mounted patrol they're starting on the beltline.

i ranked the southwest higher because there's a lot of potential along the rail line— lee street and murphy street, in addition to the beltline. the area is already pretty populated, and to me, seems to be the most rapidly changing part of town outside of the northeast part.

i put northwest in the middle because it's less densely populated than southwest, and almost as sparsely populated as southeast atlanta. the problem here though is that instead of fields and woods like you have in southeast, you've got tons and tons of houses that are kept in terrible condition, and i can see these areas one day being some of the nicest areas in town— but at the same time there isn't as much potential for dense development like there is in southwest atlanta. in addition, outside of some huge redevelopment project, places like the bluff are going to be the way they are for a lot longer.

1 Southwest- The best variety of solid housing stock, several stable communities, new housing (although, it appears it could have a negative impact on older ranch homes), increased shopping opportunities, beltline.

2 Northwest- "Creatives", increase in very good restaurants and other entertainment venues, new housing, lots of land, proximity to well established communities, multiple colleges

3. Southeast- Lots of urban pioneering,"creatives",beltline, lots of land, lots of sub standard housing
