Hi, I need your help figuring out where to get a place to live in Atlanta. I've done some reading and someone in this forum recommended that I fill-out below information for better guidance. So here it is.

1. Budget - $1300/month

2. House/Condo/Townhome? - Prefer APT/Condo/Townhome but not House.

3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) - I'm a medical resident. I want to minimize my commute time. If I can walk to Emory that would be perfect (I can walk 3 miles).

4. Children(public school vs. private) - I have one son who's only 4 months old. So school system is not an issue.

5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two - Does not matter.

6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? - Not really. I will be driving most of time other than commuting to go to work. Again, if I can walk to Emory or take one bus ride to Emory would be nice.

7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. - No preference.

I am particularly looking for a place with 3 br. Do you think I can find a place with 3br within 3 miles of Emory University for 1300/month or less?

You can probably find what you are looking for within a 10 mile radius of Emory. Why don't you just rent a house since you need 3 bedrooms? You want to live near Emory because traffic is horrible in that area since most of the roads have only one or two lanes

I don't know how bad is the traffic near Emory. How is N. Decatur road during rush hours? Does it have only 2 lanes?

As long as you live in the general area you should be ok traffic wise. It's bad but not that bad if you live in the general area. You just don't want to have to make that drive from across town. You should look to move either no farther south than the city of Decatur or no further north than Northlake Mall area from Emory

You might check out Emory's website, which has postings of available nearby housing.
Off the top of my head, there are the Harwood Condominiums which are located adjacent to campus.

I would check out the new Emory Point mixed use development, although the apartments may be pretty pricey. Very nice, however, and immediately adjacent to the campus.

I do know several Emory employees that live in Kirkwood. They drive and sometimes bike to Emory, its a short commute, up Clifton Road, https://maps.google.com/?ll=33.76737...11494&t=m&z=14. 3 brd homes for that price can be found, in a great historic, intown neighborhood. Lot's of greenspace and parks.
