My family is relocating to to Georgia for a job I am taking in Norcross. We are looking for an area that is a little more rural (but not the sticks) with decent size yards. Based on what we have seen online Dallas and other areas in Paulding seem like a good fit. Problem is we can't find any good info on commutes and the general flow of traffic. The drive from Dallas to Norcross is about an hour which wouldn't be too bad and within my range of acceptable. Of course it is hard to tell how accurate those estimates are given rush hour(s) traffic flow. Anyone have any suggestions for a web site or personal experience on which directions on which interstates/highways have the most congestion during the morning and evening rush? I tried to use google maps and live maps with the traffic overlays to get an idea which directions experience the most delays
during the rush but I wasn't able to deduce any trends from the data.

Thanks,

Shelby

I wouldn't try that route. From Marietta (East Cobb) to Norcross is more than 1 hour. So my guess is that it is close between 1 hour half to 2 hours from Dallas to Norcross one way.

Agreed. Paulding County is on the opposite side of the city from Norcross and your commute would involve driving on the northern section of I-285, which is one of the worst choke-points in the city during rush hour. You would be far better off looking for a more rural locale north of Norcross, perhaps in Forsythe or Cherokee Counties.

Wow! A commute from Paulding to Gwinnett would take you 1 1/2 hours WITHOUT traffic. I actually suggest the areas of Suwanee or Buford. There are also more rural areas in Dacula. The schools in Dacula are very good and you are not too far from the best shopping. Doing this will cut your drive by 1full hour.

Yeah, you need a transporter, not a car, if you want to do that commute. My guess would be an hour and 45 minutes each way in average traffic. Maybe slightly less on good days, and more on bad. If they predict snow and a snowflake falls out of the sky, count on 8 hours to get home.

Paulding.com is the Paulding site and the people on there know everything about Paulding and the towns in there. Most are stay-at-home mom types but there are a few others. Either way, I think that even there you'll find a lot of reactions to driving from that area to Norcross every day.

You really wanna stick to the East/NE side of town for that work area, unless that is, you like living in a car.

It takes him about 1hr 15 minutes to get home as long as he leaves at 5 before 4pm if he leaves at 4 pm it takes him 1.5 hrs
