Hi everyone. I'll be relocating to the area this summer and wanted some feedback. In your opinion, which are the best parks in the Alpharetta/Johns Creek area? Do you like Ocee Park, Webb Bridge Park, Newtown Park and why? Am I missing any?

Which ones have the best trails, playgrounds for toddlers, lakes/streams community activities? Do the parks have swimming pools or do most people use the ones in their subdivisions?

Tell me about the Big Creek Greenway.

Thanks in advance.

I love the big creek greenway. It is about 8 miles from start to finish and it is paved the entire way. It is great for walks or easy bike rides. It is very scenic and i usually spot deer on it whenever i am out there.

Willis Park (Alpharetta) is the best in my opinion. Next Newtown Park. And the greenway.

The way the area sprawls, you can live in Johns Creek and have Willis Park (alpharetta) closer to you than Newtown park (JC).

You can look at the maps, but some of the parks seem more walkable (inside the park) than others. Some parks look like you need to drive thru them but I may be wrong.

My family's favorite parks near our house: Fowler Park and the Big Creek Greenway trails (both in Forsyth county). Fowler Park is huge, with many different fields throughout. There's also a skateboard park.

In Alphahretta, we also like Wills Park. There's a neat play area for toddlers, it's a huge enclosed area with only one entry/exit so the little ones can roam.

As for pools, Wills Park has a pool...our subdivision has pools so it didn't matter to us if parks has a pool or not.

Fowler Park is terrific. Wills also, we like to walk through the horse stable area.

I regularly bike both the Big Creek Greenway and the Forsyth Greenway. I prefer the Alpharetta trails because Forsyth is more boardwalk than cement, but both are worth trying. Some day the trails will connect between Roswell and Forsyth.

Big Creek greenway is awesome.

I don't know that much about parks in Alpharetta, but you can also explore the parks of Gwinnett county, some of which are spectacular.

You will have to make a bit of a trip out of it, but parks like Little Mulberry and Harbins are enormous (over 900 acres) and full of so many things to discover.

I think Wills Park as the public pool in Alpharetta. If the house you plan to buy is built after 1990, chances are rather good, you have a swimming pool in your association in North Fulton. I would go with that for convenience reasons. The other parks you mention, Newtown, etc, they are great for people with kids of any age, active in orangized sports or just to use the playgrounds.
