Hello, my family of 4(2 small kids) are thinking about making a move to Atlanta from Orlando,FL in the next couple of months and we need to know which areas to look for and areas to avoid when shopping for a house. Our budget is around $230k max but we are more interested in nice safe neighborhoods that are safe for a kids. Any advice you guys have would be helpful. Thx

You're going to need to narrow that down somewhat. Do you need to be in a certain area for jobs?

In general, Suwanee is supposed to be nice. I also have friends over in Acworth and Kennesaw. I live in the metro Orlando area now, but we lived in NE GA for 4 years. (and I hope to return one day soon. Cheaper living and better for families, IMO)

I will be working on one of the hospitals in the area. Not 100% sure which one at this point(possible one towards North Atlanta). I am just having cold feet about moving to Atlanta because of all the negative things I hear about the crime. I was told that a lot of it is based on where you live, so I want to know where I should I be looking. Orlando has been a nice place to live but not a lot to do once you get over the theme parks.

North Atlanta is still too broad of an area. If you live in th Northeast and work in the Northwest or vice versa then you will have a nightmare of a commute. There are lots of nice options in the northern suburbs with good schools and low crime rates.

Not sure where you are getting information about crime in Atlanta but very likely you are confusing the city of Atlanta which has a population of 400,000 with the metro Atlanta area which has a population of 5.5 million.

I grew up in Orlando but have lived in Atlanta for 25 years. The crime in the Atlanta suburbs are no different than in Orlando.
