I'll be moving to Atlanta in a month or so, and I've found this service to help find an apartment. It's called Promove, and is supposedly totally free. Has anybody used them before or even heard of any good or bad reviews?

they're pretty awesome. Tell them exactly what you're looking for and they will find a list of apartments for you. They were recommeded to me by several users within this forum. While I have decided to stay with family for a few months, I didnt get to follow through w/them. However, when I am ready to move out I will definitely use ProMove in my apartment search! They get paid by the apartment complexes, which is why they are free to us

I used Promove to move to ATLANTA from NYC and they are a fantastic service. You just tell them what you are looking for in a rental apartment such as location, price, amenities and they give you the best choices. Definitely beats driving around and wasting time and money. The women who helped me, she and I became friends after her help too. Good people.

Does Promove only help find multi-family apartments or do they also assist in finding other rental properties (ie townhomes, single family houses)?

Sometimes they know of condos; don't know about townhouses. Just give em a call. It's a great service, especially if you're new to town.

They would not provide me any leads on privately owned/leased properties, which is why I ultimately didn't use them.

Interesting to see all the Promove love.

Maybe they have gotten better, I haven't used them in many years. It seemed to me that they really tried to steer me to certain properties (read: the properties they get the biggest referral bonuses for).

They didn't seem to listen to me at all. They just urged me to go where they wanted me to go, not where would be the best for me. I also found them to be pretty unknowledgable. If you know what area of town you want to be in, they can pull properties from there...but don't go in there with a laundry list of things you want and expect them to be able to find your dream complex for you, especially if you are relatively open about what area you want to be in. They won't do that.

I thought the internet would negate the need for Promove, but I guess it hasn't. Maybe they've stepped up their game since I used them, it was many many years ago.

The internet doesn't find you move in deals, promove does.
