Hello,
I am a young lesbian college student looking for a middle class /high middle class area that's in 285 or close that has low crime, close to shopping and grocery stores, quiet with young professionals.something that is safe.I am relocating to Atlanta within the next few months and the areas that seem to fit me are Buckhead,Alpharetta,Sandy Springs area and also Marietta, but the homes that are more appealing and price suitable for me are in the Cascade areas of South Atlanta.I'm really not educated much on this area so it will be very appreciated if someone could please give me there opinion on areas, also thanks in advance.

Are you looking to buy or rent? In Town neighborhoods would be a better fit. Decatur, Virginia Highlands, Morningside etc.

Yeah City of Decatur or somewhere close by would probably be your best bet. Agnes Scott is an all female liberal arts college, so that area nearby has attracted a larger community of lesbians. Not to say the college itself or the surrounding area is all lesbian, but it's been known as an excepting area even in the 60's when my dad was going to GA Tech and lived in College Park. Some neighborhoods to check out specifically maybe are: Oakhurst, Midway, Avondale Estates. If you want to live closer to Atlanta proper you might check out Kirkwood, Ormewood, East Atlanta, Grant Park, & Cabbage Town. Virginia Highlands, Inman Park, Candler Park, Lake Claire are really nice, but they are definitely more expensive. Someone posted a great metro neighborhood guide from Creative Loafing somewhere on these boards. Just do a search for it. It will explain more in depth some of the info. Good luck and welcome to Atlanta when you get here!

Great advice

The City of Decatur also has The Digging Dykes of Decatur but I can't seem to find their website. They are a social orgaization.

Charis Books & More is located in Little 5 Points in between Candler Park and Inman Park.

Good luck and welcome
