What a great venue. I know I'm late to the game having seen my first three concerts there in the past month and a half.

I was a huge proponent of Lakewood.
  • Great Tailgating
  • Lax Security
  • Great Line-up Typically

I definitely feared how the Alpharetta community would welcome such a venue. Police seem to be fairly relaxed. Quick access to the venue. Relatively quick exit (especially vs Lakewood). Sound is great. Lawn could use some more grass in parts, but the trees are a great addition. No wait for beverages. Short wait for restrooms. Really, A+ experience there. Kudos to the developers who pulled it off.

Looks like Lakewood will have to close their doors. No way they can survive the drought that Encore Park has caused.

I think that Atlanta can support a few of these venues...and as long as Lakewood can book the kind of shows that it has had over the years it will still be successful. Lakewood may have to be refurbished and updated to compete, but I think it definitely can stay in the game.

I've heard great things about VWA, but it's just too far away for me to make the trip. Maybe one day.

Saw Arcade Fire there this past week. First time at the venue and liked it. The parking situation is a really good idea (different assigned lots helps the flow). My only complaint was the sound. I realize it could be where I was sitting or the fact I'm getting old (help!), but it seemed off a bit to me.

I do have a question. If I bought a ticket for a future show from Ebay or a friend and it didn't come with a parking pass where would I park? It seemed they were letting anyone into the lot we went to.

I think their hope is that you go to your assigned lot, but are not enforcing such. Arcade Fire was awesome. I really didn't notice anything with the sound.

Thanks for the parking lot mention. You are probably correct. Come to think of it, Spoon sounded great. It must have been some of the dense material Arcade Fire cranked out on a few tunes.

Lakewood isn't going to close as a result of a new Amphitheater opening on the opposite end of the metro area. Lakewood has a comparable (if not bigger) lineup this summer than Verizon:

Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood Concert Tickets, Schedule, Seating Chart | Official Live Nation Site.

Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park Concert Tickets, Schedule, Seating Chart | Official Live Nation Site.

Hopefully in the future MARTA could extend the red line up 400 to connect to VWA.

But first they need money
