I need some help. My wife and I are in our 40s and looking to relocate to a warmer climate (we're in the Chicago area). We have a 15 and 10 year old. We'd like a waterfront property but don't want to get into a high end area. We'd prefer a smaller town atmosphere. Employment wouldn't be a priority. Can anyone give us some information on areas and lakes that we could consider where we can buy, and what the cost of housing would be.
Thanks
~AJB

Default Mountain Home area

I would recommend taking a look at the Mountain Home/Bull Shoals area. You won't have lake front, the corp has that. But it's beautiful and still reasonably priced. If I can help you in any way, send me an email mlrfo4@yahoo.com

Your best bet is to come down at go around the state. The are several large lakes that might be what your looking for but its very different in each area. Beaver area is very crowded and lake if very full of boats. Greers Ferry area is less crowded but there aren't too many job around here. Prices vary
There is also the area along the Arkansas River. Smaller towns like Clarksville and russelville. There are few jobs of r example in Clarksville but a lot in Russelville. take a few weeks and check things out
Take a week or two.

There's all kind of water in the vicinity of Hot Springs...Lakefront on Lake Hamilton tends to be pricey, but not so much a few blocks away,...there's also Lake Catherine, Lake Ouachita, Lake DeGray, Fountain Lake, etc.

I would like to also recommend the SW area of Missouri. We also have several large lake areas...as with most lakes here the US Army Corps of Engineers owns it. But you can get close....some good lakes that are not so high end and commercial in MO is Stockton and Pom De Terre. If you would like to search I would be glad to help.
