Both towns are very similar. Pocahontas is smaller, but a bit more scenic being on the edge of the Ozarks. Paragould is about as ugly of a town as you'll ever see. The flatness isn't even it's downfall. People there just don't care about much of anything.
Paragould is about as hickish and intolerant as they come. I have in-laws in southern Missouri, visit there quite a bit, and Paragould is no different, if not worse.

I would avoid Paragould at all costs. Jonesboro isn't exactly the bee's knees, but by eastern Arkansas standards, it's tolerable.
Just between Paragould and Pocahontas, I'd take Pocahontas.
Chuckle all you like. I've lived across the country in small towns and in large cities and it's nothing but the truth that I speak. Pocahontas isn't bad but it's pretty hick compated to Paragould. The margin may not be much but it's enough to notice.

I moved to Paragould about 8 years ago and love it here. Its growing and has an adequate number of restaurants. Its only 20 minutes from Jonesboro and the mall and several more restaurants. It has good schools and people.

Hard to say. Pocahontas is smaller and more personal. The times I've driven through Paragould, it always seemed, well, grungy. It's a Mississippi River Valley town and that's never good. A few years ago a tornado came through and walloped nearby Marmduke. If the New Madrid earthquake ever happens, watch out. But you could say the same for every town and city between New Madrid and Memphis. I don't know how well controlled the mosquitoes of Paragould are, but Pocahontas have theirs well trained. Paragould has better access to a couple of colleges. Pocahontas is closer to the Ozarks and its culture. The culture of Paragould is more Delta, I think. Paragould is wet. Pocahontas isn't. Pocahontas is close to Marmaduke which, I think, has an insane asylum. Just in case you need one. I chose Pocahontas but then again I wasn't looking for work. Between Jonesboro and Paragould, I'd chose Jonesboro even though I hate its congestion. Between Paragould and Walnut Ridge? Tough one, but I'd go with Paragould because they probably have superior mosquito control equipment. Paragould and any town west of the Black River? That's easy. Any town west of the Black River wins.
