I love Lake Havasu! It's a party destination so you'll see many tourists running around in flip flops and on boats. The housing isn't horrid but not exactly cheap (depends how close to the lake you are). Because it's a tourist destination, many jobs are in hotels/ resturants/ etc. There are better jobs but you need to look.

You can always buy a houseboat or small yacht and live in that!

Default No justice in Havasu

I would strongly recommend against coming to Lake Havasu. The local magistrate is a modern day Judge roy bean, and Havasu courts are modern day speed trap!
They ignore all evidence that the defense brings up, all evidence. It is a kangaroo court that my attorney has told me imposes fines 2-5 times greater than any other city in the county.
Go to Bullhead city, Kingman or Parker but stay away from Havasu. The visitors have come to say "go to havasu on vacation, leave on probation" The elderly population there dislikes the younger crowd and so unless you are a local politician you do not get fair shake. The local council made sure the magistrate is a biased and is not even an attorney and never studied law.
Do not come to Havasu.

My in-laws live in Havasu, I can't say I like it. It's really touristy, lots of topless girls on the lake during holidays. I have seen some really gross stuff on the lake that even embarrassed this outgoing girl The locals seem a little hick-like, and it is HOT! We went to visit one Thanksgiving and it was almost 90 degrees. I personally would hate to rely on a tourist economy to keep a town going.

Hi!

I'm traveling into Lake havasu and Bullhead City toady. I found a thread here that dealt with BHC extensively (crime, wind), but I need more info in LHC.

Anyone?

I'm looking to park my RV in one of these cities for the winter (nov-feb). Would like comments.

I don't care for windy areas. If bullhead is windy in winter, I suspect LHC is also windy - but I'd like to confirm that.

I've also been told LHC might be a bit nicer of a place overall.

Please share any and all thoughts.

thanks!

Havasu seems more crowded to me. There is more shopping and the lake. Bullhead has the casinos close, the river and Lake Mohave but not quite as many stores. If you have a car, its also much closer to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon etc. Both attact snow birds but Havasu seems to attract more of the wealthier ones. I prefer Bullhead, but you may prefer Havasu. You could probably try one and if you don't like it, find another park to stay in.

Update....

I stayed two nights in Bullhead City. It was alright, but not the greatest place in my book. I found a great campground on the north end of town, two miles north of the bridge, and camped on the lake. First night was quiet, but the second night, we had some idiots camp next to us - they never went to sleep, partied all night, and were still drinking in the AM before they drove off. Maybe it was just plain bad luck, but it was not a great thing either. Otherwise, the park was quiet.

Drove down to LHC next, a much cleaner town. Looks like a lot more fun. After two days, I know for sure I could recommend LHC over BHC. I'll be parking the RV in LHC.

Thanks everyone!

Can you back up your claims with concrete evidence? Why is LHC the pits and why should it be avoided?
