Hot and dry for the most part. Cool nights. Possibilities of thunderstorms during the monsoon season, mid-August to late September.

Hot? on the NORTH RIM? I don't think so. That extra thousand feet in elevation makes a huge difference in temp. Warm, yes, but not hot.

Did you have a thermometer with you???

Sorry, but that must have been an EXTREMELY unusual situation at 7000-8000 feet. Take a look at this chart, with the average temps each month at both the North and South Rims. The OP might find it helpful.

Grand Canyon Weather - Climate - Current Grand Canyon Weather - Rainfall - Grand Canyon Weather

Actually yes I did. Out of fairness though, this wasn't at the North Rim NP area, but at Toroweap (Tuweap). It's probably at a lower elevation than the classic north rim area, to which I've never been. Looking at the historical data, I can certainly see your point. I didn't know the north rim NP area was at 8,000', so perhaps I stand corrected there.

Toroweap, is indeed on the north rim however, and was insanely hot on the weekend when I took this shot.
