We are Thinking of moving to a small place in Pearce. My partner is disabled and must see a pain specialist each month for treatment.

Are there any places in Pearce, Benson or Willcox that he could go to?

Any information would be greatful.

Thanks,
Dan

There are medical services in all three places you mention plus major facilities in Tucson. There are also great chiropractors, holistic folks, reiki practitioners, physical therapists etc right in Sunsites village in Pearce.

Pain management specialist doctors (MD, DO) tend to be found only in more urban areas. I went to www.azmd.gov and at least started a doctor search for pain management specialists in that area. Found none so far.

You might have to travel to Tucson for the doctor, but other related services, like SunZone suggests, can be found closer to those towns.

It is my understanding the Willcox Hospital has planned a newer clinic to be staffed full time in Sunsites to open sometime early Fall. The Clinic will be in the new adobe style building at Stronghold Plaza on Hwy 191. Also, the Willcox Hospital, only 20+ minutes away has upgraded & added the latest in diagnostic equipment as well as aquiring a new director. We are all looking forward to the opening!

I suspect that for a pain specialist you are likely looking at a trip to Tucson.
One of the definite drawbacks of living in a small community is a lack of medical specialists. Specialists tend to need a large market to draw upon in order to have sufficient paitents to support the narrow field of their specific practice.

There is a place in Sunsites called Shang-gr- la physical therapy, (I can see it out my back yard!) not sure what they actually do, but Tucson is probably where you will end up . . . about 1.25 - 1.75 hrs away depending on where you go . . .

I prefer to go to Agua Prieta, Mexico, just across the border from Douglas about 50 mi south . . . much quicker service, better, cheaper . . . just gotta have a passport . . .

The "Stronghold Plaza" is just a mowed field with a few mesquites growing in it now, don't hold your breath for any building going on . . . I don't bother with going to Willcox either . . . except for to give a urine sample for a drug test . . . any emergency they just transfer you to Tucson.
