I'm from the DC area and my parents just closed up their pool, I was wondering when folks in AZ close up their pools....if at all! Thanks and can't wait to move to AZ!

We don't close them in the desert areas, just quit using them. We lose interest and the water gets too cold (below 80) in late September.

Same here but I like to keep the water warm so I can swim until November

Yup, if you have a pool heater, then you can swim through November, and sometimes start again as early April!

Without a pool heater, most people stop using their pool around mid September, and don't start up again until June.

Ours has already been closed for a while now. We had our first snow flakes already here in Scranton.

yeah - my parents got some snowfall back home in upstate NY this past week - enough to break out the scrapers for the cars and cover the outside furniture

my grandmas pool back there has been closed since mid sept

my friends pools our here are no longer in use either - but as stated there really is no closing of the pool

I "opened" the spa for the season today. We only use it in the cooler months.

Our pools usually close around Labor Day or so, some a little later depending. I dont swim when the outside temps are below 80 degrees, it gets too chilly for even me. We're forecasted to get flurries on Tuesday night for a short while. All this "global warming" cannot be felt here in IL at all. Last winter was one of the snowiest and coldest on record, this summer was one of the coolest on record, and snowfall seems to come earlier every year for the last 3 years. We had 1/8" a few years back in mid October! Didnt stick around long, but still. Crazy.

Back on topic.... I tried to swim in late October in AZ (daytime temps were in the low 90s), but at night it was just too friggin cold. I dont know what I was thinking. lol

i used to swim out here when I would visit relatives in february & november - on one of the february trips i guess i jumped in a little lake/pond by our campground some place in the higher elevations

of course everyone thought i was nuts - but as a youngin the cold thing didn't really phase me and it felt downright tropical compared to upstate NY
