Does anybody know anything about Morenci/Clifton area? I had a job offer there with Cat working on Caterpillar Mining trucks for after I graduate from school next spring.

How is the living standards there? What is there as far as entertainment? I like small town living, so lack of amenities isn't an issue with me. A movie theatre and a diner with good food is suffice.

What is the living situations like there? Are the houses/properties decent? Stick built foundation homes or double wide manufactured?

I live here in Safford which is 45 miles or so south of Morenci , there is some housing there but I am not sure how much is available at this time since the mines are on an upswing. They built a lot of mine housing a couple of years ago during the last boom and there may be some of that available to contractors if it is open.
Be warned though that if you do not work directly for the mines, that they will move you out if they end up needing the housing unit you are in....at least that is the way I understand it.
Many folks live here in Safford and commute/car pool up there....much better housing opportunities, and shopping, entertainment, etc The road up there is good and the commute is not bad.
Its funny some folks in the big city will commute 45 min or more to work every day (I used to do it in LA) but when they get to a place like this they think that commute is too far.
Hope this job works out for you.

That isn't too far for me. What is Duncan like? I've passed through it back in 2008. It looks pretty small and cozy in passing. Some junkie looking houses along the main road, but not too bad. It seems like a nice small town.

I like Duncan...there will be some housing there....if you like country living, check out York Valley and Virden NM....some real nice areas there.

Just remember that you will be driving for shopping, dining etc....but not too far just to Safford.
