Wickenburg tourism (hotel, university, living)

We are really interested in the town of Wickenburg,(we like the smaller towns) and have visited there once. We are wondering how good there tourist season is, we understand that there tourist season is during the winter months. Is the tourist season busy enough to make a living? Wickenburgs Chamber page is well done, and has great information, but it doesn't tell how many people actually pass through there. I've asked the chamber if they knew how many tourist pass through a season, and they couldn't tell me, which I found unusual, as most tourist towns do have an estimated count.
When we were visting there, we noticed that Frontier street wasn't as busy as Wickenburg Way street, did the new overpass affect the business on Frontier street?

My first question would be "make a living doing what?" There are winter visitors who spend the winter in Wickenburg, to be sure, but it's not a "tourist destination" except to stop for gas or a bite to eat on the way to Las Vegas, and that's year round.

If the Chamber didn't have the information you wanted maybe try other options.

Or ask the big museum how many visitors a day they get Desert Caballeros Western Museum - Wickenburg Arizona
and make a guess that x% of all visitors go there.

Or call this tourism library Northern Arizona University-Tourism Library

I think they have at least 500-1000 rooms available overall (hotel and dude ranches nearby) so that may also give some sense of how many people spend the night.

Observer: I guess I had mistaken Wickenburg as a tourist destination with all the events, shops, galleries, tours etc,, that they advertise, Maybe it's more for the snowbirds and locals though.

NW Crow: thanks for all the useful information you posted! I truly appreciate that, and have only looked into some of it, but will get into the rest soon.

If anyone else has opinion or info. on Wickenburg, please let me know!
