Well I made it.
Glad to hear it.

The weather here in Camp Verde was much more humid that I would have expected for Arizona. It is also monsoon season as well which has made for a very cloudy and somewhat rainy Arizona experience.
It's humid because of the monsoon. Some days are worse than others, but even the really humid days aren't that bad when compared to much of the country. Pretty soon the air will be dry and the worst of the heat gone. Then, just beyond that, the weather will be near perfect and you'll be reminding yourself of the cold weather in Wisconsin.

I got a bit of a chuckle out of seeing a sign for the Prescott National Forest. Prescott National Shrubbery would have been a little more true to life.
Well, there are quite a few large trees in the Prescott National Forest a little higher in elevation. When you do explore it you'll understand the name a little better.

One thing I noticed about Camp Verde is the lack of employment.
The economy as a whole in Arizona isn't that good, but I suspect even in the boom jobs were not easy to come by in Camp Verde, just because there are not a lot of employment options....

A lot of Arizona seems to have a hillbilly flare to it.
That seems like a harsh generalization. I'd explore the state a little more before settling on that conclussion. I'm sure if I visited the "right" parts of Wisconsin I could say the same thing....

I don't know if Arizona is the state for me but I'll be back to explore some more.
Arizona is not for everyone (just like every state), but that is the right attitude to have.

I figured driving semi oughta be in some demand in Arizona.
Yep.

It does get some hot weather, but not nearly as bad as Phoenix and Tucson, and winters are still pretty mild, too. Humidity is also low.

Here's a link to the average temperatures there:

No one elected Frau Brewer, and five of the eight congresspersons are Democrats so if those are your reasons you may want to stay where you are

Not sure if you put this on the right thread, but anyway, that'll be remedied in about 3 months. Landslide!

Hey hey now, I ain't hatin' on Arizona's 'billies. I am a bit of a hillbilly myself I have 10 cars an only two of them run I've seen way more shacks here than I ever did at home. I've also seen some really nice places as well. I think any place that has low population densities will have a lot of hillbillies.

Eh I am just glad someone is doing something about illegal immigration. A nation without the ability to tell who can live here and who can't is not a nation at all. Mexico knows that full well and has very very strict immigration laws. Unlike the United States, Mexico (and other Central/South American nations) has figured out a way to get rid of their huge poor underclass. Instead of doing what the United States does (food stamps, section 8 housing, earned income credit) those nations tell their unskilled poor folks to move. It is ingenious really, those nations don't have to spend a dime on helping their own citizens and can push poor folks out while looking like heros.

Imagine if the US had no welfare system and had a wealthy elite class that wanted to spend as little as possible helping the less fortunate and told those folks that they should move to Canada. If anyone disagreed with the massive amounts of poor unskilled folks that had no interest in assimilating into Canadian culture flooding in our leaders could call the Canadian government racist and bigoted.

We (the US) could save millions of dollars in welfare cost by adopting the Central/South American model of how to take care of poor people. Rich people could keep all their money and the government could tax the money that the huge expatriate poverty underclass sends back home thus ensuring the elite keep on paying low taxes. So instead of investing in making their nations a better place rich folk down in Latin America invest in bullet proof cars and armed guards.

There is a huge unfair double standard going on. The United States needs to adopt Mexican Immigration law word for word and enforce it with the same zeal that the Mexican government does.
