Hi everyone,

I have a new job in Saline and will be relocating from Cincinnati, Ohio. This is the first time I am going to Michigan. Can someone please help with the best area to stay in Ann Arbor. As from Google, Ann Arbor and Saline are just 9 miles away.. So any good place to stay. We will either be renting an apt or home in Ann Arbor or Saline..
Also , which is a good place to stay.. Ann Arbor or Saline??

Thanks a lot for ur help!!!!

I don't know the area is extremely well for living recommendations as I haven't lived there but I do pass through regularly while traveling to OH. Saline, Ypsi and other smaller towns around A2 are going to be on the cheaper side of rent due the University factor. You can pick just about anywhere along the 23 or 94 corridor and have a reasonable commute; not as big of an area as the Cinci metro, and most of the small towns are really decent. I personally wouldn't care for Milan, and you can be as far west as Jackson if you want uber cheap (but, higher crime). Welcome to MI - it'll be a different culture than what you're used to in OH, and you might get sticker shock from auto insurance rates, but A2 is a fun town with a lot going on, and within close proximity of Toledo, which also has things going on.

You might want to consider a rental at the Pines of Cloverland - It's right on Michigan Ave (at 94) and only 8 miles up the road from Saline. Plus - since it's not in AA (but Ypsi) the prices are quite a bit lower than in AA. The Pines of Cloverlane | Apartments in Ypsilanti, MI There are two other apartment complexes next door, if you like a different style. Everything from a movie theatre to Meijer to freeways within a 5 min drive.

Any private sector employment? I've got a degree, sales/tech experience, been a restaurant manager as well.

gaylord_f, You should be able to find something easily. But I would suggest looking in the B3 as they are hiring like crazy, these are good companies doing very well now. Ford is about to hire 800. If you have tech/IT experience you are golden...

By all means, learn to fix the stuff! If you're good at it you really will be golden and you won't regret it.
