Four Wheeler in Palmer, AK (Anchorage: purchase, to live, price)

Hey all,

I have a few questions for you regarding a four-wheeler. In Jan or Feb I will be driving from Chattanooga, TN to Seattle, WA. Once there I will ship my truck from Seattle to Anchorage. I'll be driving from there to Palmer to live. Before I leave TN I'm strongly considering the purchase of a four-wheeler. They are cutting over $2000 off the price (for those interested, I'm thinking of getting a 2008 Honda Foreman 500 ES 4x4, Camo finish, all for $4700).

Now my questions.

1) Once I get to Seattle will they ship a truck with a four-wheeler in the back, they won't charge me the rate of another car will they?

2) Will I get more use out of a four-wheeler than a snow machine, my thinking is I can use a four-wheeler from March/April to Oct/Nov. Am I correct in my assumption?

3) Are there many places to ride a four-wheeler in and around Palmer and the Mat-Su Borough (meaning riding in and over private and government land)? Are trails common around there?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your help.

There is a nice place to four wheel at Jim Creek, which is about 30 minutes from Palmer/ Lots of trails. Others probably know of other places. I agree that you would get more year round use of a four wheeler than you would out of a snow machine.
