for me, it can be anywhere from $0 to $500 a month, but will usually average down to $50 to $100. trying to get this down lower for this year. i don't have the money for this crap and i am one more financial catastrophe away from drinking the same swill that homeless people drink.
We don't have an actual budget, but I am guessing, because we do love our wine we spend about $100 a month on liquor We mainly do buy just wine, but stock up on hard liquor a couple times a year. Spoiled brat likes is scotch on weekends and I love a martini once in awhile or a gin an tonic during the summer. The rest of our liquor cabinet is for guests to enjoy.

Where did you get the information "after 65, limit to 1 glass a day" our doctor and other I have spoken with have said nothing even close to that. In fact they encouraged my husband to drink 2 glasses of wine a day. His blood pressure has dropped considerably and he is now off blood pressure meds.

What ? Mines went down very little after I cut back on the wine.

I'm the only drinker in my family so it's not too bad.

I usually buy 3 bottles of wine a month and average about $40.

I also buy a bottle of liquor monthly and usually spend about $30

I buy some of the little "shot-sized" bottles of various liquors and those run me about $15.

All total about $85.00 so not too bad I guess. There are a lot of very good wines out there that are not costly and the liquors I buy tend to be higher proof so they tend to last longer

I don't budget. I bought a 1.75 bottle of Jim Beam in September 2012. Right now, it's down to about an inch below the top of the label. I also bought a six pack of beer in late 2014. I believe that's all gone now, but I'd have to check the refrigerator to be sure.

Mine is $20-$30. I usually get a sixer of my favorite beer every two weeks. Certain days, I drink more than others. My husband probably spends that much every week. He is into the craft beer and tends to drink every night.

As for the comment about 1 drink/day, that sounds about right. My FNP recommends no more than 7 drinks/week.

Do you have to drink one a day or can you bank them and have a blowout once every week or two?

I'll spend about $25 on a 24 pack of beer at Costco, last year a variety pack of Blue Moon. That lasts me all summer as I only drink one on a hot day (Seattle area). Then I'll have a local craft beer when eating out at a good restaurant with my wife every other Friday night all year, about $6 each. When I drink wine at home with dinner, it's almost always gifts given to me by guests. I only drink hard stuff when it's free, such as an annual business conference in Las Vegas every April, or at a wedding. So I would say annually, maybe $200.
