So I am relocating to albuquerque-
I am going to rent by the week when I first arrive so that I may look at apartments or roommate situations first hand.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me certain neighborhoods (with street names) that I should avoid.

Some hotels I am considering are The Sahara on Gibson street
or the Rodeway Inn by Central/Tramway

Anyhow, all advice is greatly appreciated!

Where will you be working? Most people prefer a reasonable proximity to their employment.

The Sahara is in a questionable area, and Central/Tramway is also questionable but better than Gibson/San Pedro . Why these two?

My only claim to fame... when my cousin was kiecked out of our home when I was a child, he ended up staying at the same room at the Sahara that was used in the film No Country for Old Men. I visited him at that seedy hotel a few times... that's it.

I would look elsewhere...

I was recently visiting ABQ and passed an In Towne Suites while driving around and it appeared to be a safe neighborhood. They usualy rent by the week for about $170, cheaper than a decent hotel if staying for more than a few days. I did not stay there myself but I know that this chain is very popular in the Atlanta area for extended stays. Maybe others have comments about the ABQ location. Here is the address:

4676 Commerce Avenue, NE
Albuquerque, NM 87107
Office: (505) 342-2800

Good luck!

I made it and I managed to stay out of the "war zones." Just wanted to thank you for the little bit of advise I did get. For anyone in the future I would say that hotels by the week are sketchy and try to avoid it. There is a hotel called studio 6 that seemed pretty legit but I didn't stay there so I couldn't say for sure.

my favorite parts of town are nob hill and downtown.

Welcome to ABQ.

Why are you here again? Student? Relocation for work? Soul searching?
