I just contacted PNM to get service in my new apartment that I will be moving into next month and found out I have a huge outstanding balance (I left the PNM bill in my name in 2005 when I moved out of my last place and my roommate didn’t pay the bill for four months…live and learn huh?). I want to pay it on some sort of payment plan. I need service started in my new apartment for October but PNM won’t give me service until I pay the balance in full plus a deposit. (which is a total of over $800

The PNM rep said they sent it to collection but I never rec’d a collection call or notice. When I contacted the collection company they said they attempted to contact me once and couldn’t so stopped trying I have had my credit report run several times since 2005 and neither PNM or the collections has never been on there.

I don’t have the $800 just lying around. Do I have any options? PNM is the only company that can provide this service in Albuq, right?

No other options. PNM is the only provider. Start looking for apartments with utilities included if you can't pay the balance.
