We are looking for a rustic, outdoor bench made out of wood. We looked at Jackalope with no luck, and over the weekend checked out Camino Real Imports on Rio Grande. They had what we were looking for (and a lot of other cool overpriced things), but their benches were in poor condition and cost $200, which seemed a bit much considering we would have to take it home and do some major work to make it look nice again. If they had been in good condition that would have been another story. Does anyone out there in CD land have ideas on other places to look? Thanks.

There's a place on 4th street, around Dan's Boots that has similar stuff, but is a little more reasonable than El Camino Imports.

I also see people selling them on the side of the road when the weather is a little nicer, especially off Unser between MacMahon and Southern.

There's a guy who sells furniture that he's created out of his truck occasionally on Hwy 550 in Bernalillo, near the old Jackalope. I've seen a bench or two there.

There are a number of used furniture and antique (using the word loosely) shops on 4th between Paseo and Alameda. We've used A Few Old Things to sell used furniture and buy a couple of things (not to mention that the owner, Xavier, is a good guy). One of those places might have something.

That might be the same guy who sells on the west side...painted doors, benches and the like. They look quite pretty but I don't know what his prices are like.

Seems to me one place I've frequently seen things of that nature are auctions (the estate sale kind, not the kind with unwanted junk from businesses); a visit to auctionzip.com should hook you up with a couple.
