A friend of mine is getting married, and is trying to locate a venue to hold the wedding within. They're not going in with much money, and have family/friends helping out with all the essentials (food, DJ, centerpieces, flowers, photo, etc.).

Expected attendance: 90-120 people.

Perhaps someone might help offer a venue/strategy?

Requirements:

Must be within Bernalillo County
Must allow outside food/drink
Bar/no bar ok, but must not require a large bar deposit
Large enough to accommodate seating for (and bathrooms for) 90-120 people

Preferences:

<$1000 for the event
Separate areas for dining and reception

Thanks!

The best place IMO is Los Poblanos (http://www.lospoblanos.com/weddings/ - broken link). They have a lot of options (indoor/outdoor, and it is big enough to offer separate areas for ceremony, reception, photography sessions, etc), and an array of services. It is also nice because the couple can stay there on their wedding night if they choose. It's a beautiful setting with lovely gardens and gorgeous architecture. Not sure on the price, but I know that my friends who recently married there were on a tight budget.

Are you looking for indoor or outdoor? I hear there is an area at Elena Gallegos that is very nice if you want the mountain backdrop. I wonder if High Finance could be rented - but probably expensive. It would be "unique" to Albuquerque.

I know the Tamaya Resort in Bernalillo has an outdoor (plus indoor "tent") wedding venue by the river. Don't have a clue about cost but might be another place to check out. Google returned the following page - http://www.tamaya.hyatt.com/hyatt/ho...ings/index.jsp.

When I got married nearly 20 years ago, we were on a tight budget and found a quaint bed & breakfast called the Windmill Ranch for our reception. The place is no longer there (it's where the current Sagebrush Community Church is now). All we rented was the outdoor reception space and the use of their tables & chairs. We brought in everything else (dinner, cake, alcohol, & DJ). The facility usage cost was around $1000.00 total for 100 guests. The setting was a beautiful adobe B&B under tall cottonwood trees.

Of course that was 20 years ago, but if I were you, I'd look for something similar if you are planning a summer wedding outdoor venue where you are bringing in your own food & DJ.

Try this place. It looks like you can bring in your own food etc..

Madeleine's Place Event Center: A Wedding Location, Wedding Site, Or Reception Hall In Corrales, NM This however is Sandoval county so it may not work??

Places like Tamaya -- don't waste your time calling unless you have 10 grand to spend and they don't allow outside food & drink (that's the hard part).

The only other place I know of that might be within the budget is this:
Home

Good luck!
