Does anyone in Barrow know where a single construction worker can find a temporary room or a dry spot to throw a sleeping bag in exchange for work? I am coming to Barrow Sunday morning April 18th and seek an inexpensive place to stay for a week or two while I get situated. I'm willing to work in exchange for a dry spot on the floor. I have experience as carpenter, electrician and plumber. I also have 10 years experience in Prudhoe as Gen. Maint. Tech., pipefitter, Materials Expediter, Truck Driver. Now returning to the Slope after after being gone awhile. Barrow will be my new home. I have current AK Commercial Driver's Lisence with all endorsements and clean driving record. Whatever work you want done, I'd be glad to do it. So if you have room for one and want some work done, please email me, Davido_@hotmail.com
or call, Davido at (907) 884.0443

Best to you all.

You are just going to show up there in the winter?

I would wait til at least you have a place to park there, renting a room is pretty pricey to start with anywhere there if you can find one.

Floyd_Davidson is on here now and then and lives in Barrow, he would problibly be your best bet for accurate information on the area there.

Otherwise you may try looking at The Arctic Sounder: http://www.thearcticsounder.com/contact

May be able to put an ad in there for what you are looking for, but the paper comes out once a week.

Good Luck!

A room might, or might not, be easy. Check with Barrow Mechanical, NARL Hotel, Mr. Kim (house 610) who owns Sam & Lees and the guy who drives the contractor's pickup that you'll find parked in front of Sam & Lees.

Those folks may or may not have either a job or a room, but between the bunch of them they probably know 10 or 20 times more about where to find what you need than I do.

I've read your "Direct Message" here on City-Data, and will email you with a discussion.
