Guess it was inevitable, they are going to follow the lead of most other major carriers. At least intra-state flights are still exempt, as are military and MVP Gold including companions flying on the same itinerary.

Only in 1st class. At least they still give out free sodas. I know a few other airlines are charging for those as well - even charging for blankets and pillows!

I didn't mind paying extra to fly Alaska because they didn't charge you for every little thing. Now they will be competing against Spirit and US Airways, which are a hell of a lot cheaper. Bad choice...just my opinion.

It also takes Alaska forever to get out the liquor cart.

I'm assuming you live somewhere dry lol?

As far as not checking baggage some of us dont have that choice if we're flying somewhere long term. Either way its not a huge ordeal in cost and would be less than shipping something anyhow. I've come to not expect anything for free anymore.

Don't they realize they'll likely spend 20-30 minutes longer on the ground as people refusing to pay, try to find a place to store their carry ons?

Most folks try to cram a large suitcase in the overhead even when they didn't have to pay. Amazes me everytime I fly just how brain dead folks can be. Recently on a flight from Seattle to Anch...this lady had a bag any 1st grader could see would not fit in an overhead bin. I asked why she just didn't check her bag...and she said she didn't want to risk not having her bag show up in Anch! I just rolled my eyes and muttered it's a non-stop flight to Anchorage...pretty much can't loose the bag in midair.

I'll be flying Ak Air come June...those bastids...another chunk of change for shoddy service at best.

Alaska Airlines

Anchorage - Juneau $536.00

Anchorage - Pittsburgh $539.00

What is wrong with this picture?

Please don't tell me it is the number of passengers because I will not believe it..
