There are six states I have never visited. I am planning on picking off three this summer (Flordia, Alabama and Lousiana). Neat things to do and see in Florida and Louisiana are well known. Not so with Alabama.

If you had one day (or maybe two days) to show someone what is cool about your state, what woudl you show them?

Arkansas has Toad Suck Park - What do you have?

Thanks

What part of Alabama are you planning to go to? I mean if you are going to Louisiana and Florida, then I am guessing southern Alabama. If you ventured to north Alabama then you have things like Helen Keller's birth place and the famous water pump, Huntsville was the birth place of NASA, and then the very famous Unclaimed Baggage store in Scottsboro.

I too suspect you will be going to S. AL. Mobile is a beautiful 'old' city with lots to see. If you like old homes there are many many in Mobile. There is Ft. Conde which is downtown. There is the USS Alabama which you can tour. You can take a boat from Dauphin Island to Gulf Shores.

The seafood is wonderful such as West Indies Salad. There is Fairhope across the bay which a quaint town right on Mobile Bay. You can check out Magnolia Springs where they deliver the mail by boat. You can go to Bon Secour for oysters. There is Lambert's home of the 'Throwed rolls'. There is shopping in Foley at the Rivera mall.

I am sure I have missed a lot since it has been awhile..

I second these choices. They may not sound very sexy, but they really are worth visiting. The space center in Huntsville is awesome.

Down south, Bellingrath Gardens is beautiful.

Fairhope has a very interesting museum, showing the history of this small town. It's also scenic and great place to visit.

Down in Gulf Shores, the Gulf Coast Zoo is nice to see on your way to the beautiful beaches.( BTW, many people do not know Alabama has beaches) Come see our state!

I also noticed you are from Grosse Ile, MI. We bought a boat from someone in Grosse Ile and brought it back to Baldwin County AL. I figure you might enjoy water and Orange Beach has great fishing available...charter or tour boats. They also have Sunset cruises...and Dolphin cruises, the famous Florabama and many water related activities. There is also Ft Morgan...quite historic.
