The clinics have been fighting to stay open because the Board of Vets wants them closed. Now the legislature is voting tomorrow on whether they stay open. I am amazed that this is even questioned since it is a win win for everyone. Vets are not going to loose any money because they only do spay/neuters and rabies shots. I am involved with our local shelter and also a local vet in adopting out animals. It is disgusting the way some folks treat their animals.

Keeper, I agree 100% with you on this. I have called everyone and pray that it passes. We should also remind others to support the anti-**** fighting bill.

ALSO AVRAL IS A GREAT ORGANIZATION THAT WE SHOULD SUPPORT.

We won!!!!
Thanks to all for helping

They are now voting on a tougher Cockfighting bill.. From my animal friends they think that this too won't pass unless they are pushed to do so. It really amazes me sometimes.

The Cockfighting bill got out of the Senate committee but is now needing to be scheduled. Call your senators to pressure them to get this bill on the floor. Unfortunately, my old senator Shadrack McGill is NOT supporting this bill. EVERYONE call your senators and make your voice heard.

Is this what we want the state of AL to be known for?

Apparently the battle isn't won. Now the licensing board is trying to shut them down.

This is unfortunate. Alabama had the worst stray animal problem I have seen in my travels and desperately needs spay/neuter clinics.

Cozzy I agree and EVERYONE must write/call Governor Bentley and express displeasure about this. More voices that are out there in support of low cost clinics for those who can't afford the bills of neutering, then the better. He needs to know that he can make a difference also. Please get familiar with AVRAL. It is a great organization that needs support.
